The dwadasamsa chart is seen for the parents, their longevity and comforts.

The twelth division of a sign is known as dwadasamsa and the calulation starts from the sign itself.

The table on the next page makes it more clear.

The lord of the dwadasamsas are Ganesh, Ashwini Kumars, Yama and Ahi respectively.

Comments :

• The lord of the 1^st, 5^th and the 9^th dwadasamsa is Ganesh, of the 2^nd, 6^th and the 10^th are Ashwini Kumars, of the 3^rd, 7^th and the 11^th is Yama and of the 4^th, 8^th and the 12^th is Here again the great sage Parashara has given a very important clue for various interpretations of dwadasamsas. Understand it properly and apply it liberally.
• Ganesh, (lord of the 1^st, 5^th and the 9^th dwadasamsa) according to a legend sprang from the scurf ofParvati’s (wife of Lord Shiva) body. Ganesh is the god of wisdom and remover of all. obstacles and hence he is invoked and worshipped at the commencement of every important ceremony. He is short, fat with four hands, elephant head, protuberant belly and rides a’mouse. He is pious, noble, brave, obediant and faithful to his mother.

• Ashwini Kutljars (lord of 2^nd, 6^th and 10^th dwadasamsa) are twin sons of the Sun god and his wife They are supposed to be the physicians of gods. Ashwini Kumars treated Rishi Chavyan and brought back his eye-sight.They performed many surgical operations. So Ashwini Kumars are twins, intelligent, wise, physicians and surgeons.
• The Yama (lord of 3^rd, 7^th and 11^th dwadasamsa) is the god of death. The word Yama also means a twin or a couple. Yama is also the son of the Sun god. He signifies restrain, control, morality, self control, observance, impartiality, religious duty and stoicity.
• Ah i (lord of 4^th, 8^th and 12^th dwadasamsa) means the serpent. Ahi signifies killing, travelling, wickedness, cheating and the last part of the day.
