
From ancient days people in India worshiped or kept in place of worship many items recommended in the ancient scriptures as holy items. Bellow is a list of the authentic holy items recommended in the Indian Vedic scriptures.

RAccording to the scriptures Lord Shiva opened His eyes after a long period of meditation and because of the cold Himalayan wing His eyes smarted and a few tears fell down on the himalayan region. Wherever the tears fell the Rudraksha trees were born hence the Rudrakshas, the beads of the tree are considered holy. They have spiritual and medicinal properties. The Saligramas are ancient stones found in the Gandaki river at Damodar Kund / Muktinath Nepal. Many scriptures have hailed it as an incarnation of lord Vishnu and have recommended their pooja as highly beneficial. it is one of the 5 holy stones used in the Panchayatan pooja representing the Akasha or Space element and Lord Vishnu. The Narmada Shivalinga, also called Narmadeswar Shivalinga and Banalinga, is a stone found in the Narmada river near the holy Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. The scriptures recommend that its worship as shivalinga is highly auspicious. It is kept in the pooja place and it is one of the 5 holy stones used in the Panchayatan pooja representing the Earth or Vayu element and Lord Shiva. During the Ksheerasagar Manthan bu Devatas and Rakshasas (churning of the ocen by Gods and demons) Goddess Lakshmi came up along with Moon and Shankha.
